...Tere Bresin for Beret Design Group Part 3Kamau: Who were some of your role models that influenced you to go into business? Tere's Answer: Prior to entering into design I would buy any book on design and architecture. I so admired the work of Billy Baldwin and Angelo Donghia, who was an amazing designer and entrepreneur. At the time of his death, he owned seven corporations. One of which was for licensing of his name, as well as, other designer entities. Kamau: What were some of the biggest challenges to you becoming successful in life? Tere's Answer: I am a very organized person. I am a believer in strategic planning of your life and in your business. I tried to choose carefully the work experiences that I had. I wanted to be around people who were passionate about what they were doing in the field of design. I was blessed to have had many of those experiences that I saw as stepping stones to where I am now. Kamau: What are some of the greatest lessons you learned in life on how to succeed? |

Tere's Answer: Success is knowledge based. Knowledge of who you are and what you have to offer. Never stop learning. Technology is moving at such a rapid pace that we, as designers, need to be on top of the latest! The changes in lighting, for example, that will affect the population are coming quickly. As professionals, we need to be steps ahead to provide this knowledge to our clients. The other thing that is necessary is the ability to listen to what people express that they are all about and what they may need. That is, listen to what is needed to provide the design services that keep clients coming back Kamau: When did you decide that the Internet is a place that you wanted to do business? Tere's Answer: If people were shopping for groceries online then it was inevitable that they would eventually search for professional providing the services that they needed on line. |

Kamau: What makes your business unique or different from your competitors? Tere's Answer: National, local magazines, books and newspapers cover my work because of the attention to detail and uniqueness of each project . We are able to work on projects through all phases of design. That is from the drawing board to the window treatments!
