Donna's Answer: The Name of my company is Above & Beyond and we help business owners and professionals to be more successful, have more work-life balance and achieve their goals quicker by providing administrative support services such as office rentals, virtual office & virtual reception programs, administrative assistance, marketing & sales assistance, bookkeeping, workshops, trainings and consulting. All of our services are available on an as-needed basis (in our office or your office) to help our clients keep their fixed overhead down.

Kamau: can you tell us a little bit about your background, like where you grew up and went to school?

Donna’s answer: I grew up in Bergen County NJ. When I came out of high school I went to work full time and went to school part time at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck and local community colleges.

Kamau: When did you decide you wanted to do a business support and virtual office type business in Montclair? What inspired this great idea.

Donna: I worked for another shared office facility in Montclair and realized I had found my niche – I loved working with entrepreneurs so the next logical step was to become one.

Kamau: Who were some of your role models that influenced you to go into business?

Donna: My clients at the time were very supportive of the idea. My husband and family were also very supportive. I come from a family of 5 children, at any given time, we have all been entrepreneurs – so, I guess I have to say my parents influenced me as well.

Kamau: What were some of the biggest challenges to you in becoming successful in life?

Donna's Answer: In life … losing my parents too early.

Kamau: How did you overcome these Challenges?

Donna: Walk through it and don’t take anything for granted.

Kamau: What are some of the greatest lessons you learned in life on how to succeed?

Donna: Lead by example, stay open-minded and take time to have fun.

Kamau: When did you decide that the Internet is a place that you wanted to do business?

Donna: As soon as it became apparent that the world wide web was how we are all going to do business.

Kamau: What makes your business unique or different from your competitors?

Donna: Our focus on building relationships, our exceptional professionalism and knowledge, never over-selling someone for the sake of a sale and being community minded.

Kamau: Was there a defining moment or turn point in your business career when you knew you were going to be successful?

Donna: Failure was simply never an option.
